Open call for talks on the climate crisis at Auditorium

The next Gathering Against the Authoritarian Shift will be hosted jointly by the Climate Justice and Sustainability department of HUFAK and Plant-Based Universities Angewandte.

The right-wing shift and the struggle for climate justice are deeply entangled. While the climate crisis continues to intensify, right-wing forces downplay or dismiss its urgency, undermine environmental protections, and defend the interests of polluting industries. While disenfranchised communities are on the front lines of the climate crisis, the far right scapegoats them for social and economic crises rather than addressing the structural causes. At the same time, climate activists are increasingly criminalised and portrayed as extremists or security threats.

How are these dynamics entangled? Where do authoritarianism and climate injustice reinforce one another, and how can we respond?

We invite you to share your perspectives, questions, and ideas. We suggest a talk, mini-lecture or a speech in a short format (5-15 minutes), but welcome other forms of creative intervention!

If you have something to contribute, we’d love to hear from you: sustainability@hufak.net
