Hufak is divided into different departments in order to be able to represent the students’ concerns. Led by the chair, the Hufak consists of 10 units, which always consist of a person in charge and a head of unit.
Department for Art and Theory
The Department of Art and Theory sees itself as the voice of students at the university. We represent your interests within the university—for example, on the Heiligenkreuzerhof Advisory Board or in the allocation of rooms for diplomas—and are also the contact for exchanges with external institutions and associations.
Our goal is to actively support you in your projects. We offer various scholarships, the special project grant (Sonderprojektförderung) and the "lightning grant" (Blitzförderung), to support your projects financially. If you have any questions or need support with your applications, please feel free to visit us during our office hours.Department for Education and Politics
The Department of Education and Politics (BiPol) supports students by counselling on study law, as well as helping to organise study programme representatives (StVs) and curriculum commission (StuKo) members at Angewandte.
You can contact us if you have questions about the Student Union Act (HSG) or the University Act (UG), want to organise your own educational events or have ideas for change, want to know how the political organisational structures of the university work or want information on how you can become politically active.
Department for Infrastructure & Events
The infrastructure department takes care of the technical inventory of the Hufak and organizes the rental. We support students with events, technical and autonomous infrastructures. We also plan new acquisitions for the technical inventory.
Department for International Students and Anti-Racism
The Department for International Students supports and counsels foreign students with topics concerning the admission process to the University, relocation to Austria, visas and residency applications for non-EU nationals, doubts about labour legislation and difficulties within the university premises or with the living conditions in Vienna.
Furthermore, it is commissioned to assist all students when and where necessary in the discourse surrounding any form of racism at the Angewandte and its environments. The department frowns at any form of discrimination at the entire university and also seeks to combat racism within the university structures.
Department for Intersectional Queer Feminism
Power structures such as (hetero-) sexism, trans- and inter*hostility permeate society and are also reflected in everyday university life. Thus, it is the task of the queer department to break heteronormative logics at the university and to claim queer perspectives in the ÖH and the Angewandte. We support students, coordinate essential care infrastructure, and collaborate with university bodies to foster safer and more inclusive structures.
Department for IT and digital infrastructure
The department for IT and digital infrastructure maintains all web software tools used by the Hufak team, from the website over mailbox and mailing list management to our own Nextcloud instance.
Department for Public Relations
The PR department is responsible for the dissemination of news or the promotion of projects related to or for students of the Angewandte. At the same time, it takes care of sending out the Hufak newsletter for students as well as the website and the social media channels (Facebook / Instagram) of Hufak.
Department for Social Affairs
The tasks of the department of social affairs & inclusion comprise social, health related and financial matters of everyday student life
Department for Working Class Students
The Working Class Students' Department addresses the fact that the extent of cultural participation – including engagement with art and access to art education – is highly unevenly distributed and is determined primarily by one's social background. We are concerned with how these relationships manifest themselves within the University of Applied Arts and what further social implications they have. The aim is to identify problems and take action through a wide variety of projects.
Department for Financial Affairs
The Department takes care of the financial affairs of Hufak and is responsible for all transactions.
